Zavoloka – Ornament (Album – Prostir)
Genre/Influences: Rhythmic-Ambient, IDM, Electronic.
Format: Digital, Vinyl.
Background/Info: Kateryna Zavoloka is a Ukrainian female artist who released her seventh full length album of her solo project Zavoloka.
Content: ”Ornament” moves on the exploration of Electro-related influences this artist already experienced with previous works. The tracks are reflecting a dark style, which is characterized by its Ambient approach driven by slow rhythms. The songs are moving on quite progressively reaching their ultimate climax during the final parts. The work here sounds even a bit Trance-like.
+ + + : This new opus by Zavoloka is a great production of minimal electronic treatments and poignant atmospheres driven by slow rhythms. I like the Industrial sound treatments injecting an extra dark and unpolished touch to the work. The title song is a great exposure of this visionary artist, but I also have to mention “Obriad” and “Tanok” both moving towards a transcendental apotheosis. This artist mixes delicacy together with a rough production!
– – – : This is the best production I’ve heard from this artist and I even get the feeling Zavoloka still has the potential and especially genius to do better!
Conclusion: If you’re in search of original and efficient Electronic music, you definitely have to experience Zavoloka!
Best songs: “Ornament”,“Obriad”, “Tanok”, “Bezmir”.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
