Genre/Influences: Electro-pop.

Background/Info: Slovenian Torul are already back on track unleashing a new title-song that will be probably featured at the next full length album they’re actually finishing.

Content: “Ausverkauft” is a rather ‘classical’ Torul-song featuring astral bleeps, a slow, danceable cadence, feelings of evasion and a sensual timbre of voice.

The title song has been remixed by Frozen Plasma, Rotoskop, Into The Knot, Rob Dust and Soni Code.

+ + + : There are not many Torul EP’s that have disappointed me. I can’t say “Ausverkauft” is a new ‘major’ song in their discography, but it remains a cool and delicate track. This delicacy is accentuated by the sensual way of singing. Among the remixes I want to mention the great job done by Rob Dust. Frozen Plasma did a cool remix as well, bringing some fragility to the surface.

– – – : I was never a huge fan of EP’s featuring one title song and a list of remixes. I would have preferred discovering an extra- and why not an exclusive song.

Conclusion: Torul remains faithful to their personal electro-pop style, which is subtle, refined and sensual. Time for the new album now!

Best songs: “Ausverkauft”, “Ausverkauft – Rob Dust Remix”, “Ausverkauft – Frozen Plasma Remix”.

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
