Making the right choice when it comes to e-liquids offers you an overall improved vaping experience. Therefore, it’s not only important to choose a flavour you like, but also to find the best e-liquid so you really get a full hit of flavour. As vaping continues to rise in popularity, more products are brought onto the market. So, it comes as no surprise that organic liquids have made their debut in the vaping world. However, how do you know if they’re the real deal?

Organic products have well and truly hit the big time over the last few years as people are growing ever more conscious of what they are putting into their bodies. As a vaper, you are also conscious of that having made the switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes. However, with so many products flooding the vape market, it is often difficult to determine what’s authentic from what might be fake. Let us give you the low down on organic vape juice.

Is There Really Such a Thing as Organic Vape Juice?

Typically, e-liquids are made up of synthetic products, such as propylene glycol (PG). For a product to be organic, it must be free from chemical additives. This definition means PG vape juice, by its very nature, cannot be organic, since synthetic methods are used to create it.

Secondly, for something to be organic, it must be approved by an applicable governmental body, such as the Soil Association in the UK. These agencies maintain strict standards for classifying a product as organic, and standards can cover a range of factors, such as growing conditions and extraction methods. So, without much research, it is easy to see how few retailers would fall into this category.

Finally, some nicotine additives might not pass as organic when graded against government agency standards. This is especially true for nicotine sourced from Asia, as a lot of the nicotine produced in this region is derived from petroleum-based products. To keep with the standards for organic products, a nicotine additive must come from a recognized and certified organic source.

So, Which Juices Are Organic?

If you are on the hunt for organic e-liquids, the best ingredient to search for is vegetable glycerine (VG). As its name suggests, this component is a derivate of vegetables. When a 100 percent VG product sources its VG from a certified organic source, then that product may also pass scrutiny as being organic. When a company combines VG from organic sources with 100 percent organic flavour extracts, then that e-juice comes about as close as you can get to a truly organic product. These e-juices are extremely rare, however, and consequently, command a much higher price than normal.

Is Organic Better for Me?

With media praise for using organic products to reduce our intake of more harmful chemical substances, organic e-juice might sound desirable. However, the matter is a little more complicated. If you ask an organic devotee, they will certainly rave about the benefits of organic e-liquids, telling you it is “the only way to go.” On the flip side, sceptics will have a different point of view, bemoaning naïve consumers who “fall for anything.”

In truth, a balanced and informed stance on organic vape juices lies somewhere in the middle of these polarised opinions. By using organic vape juices, you may benefit from not ingesting synthetic chemicals or PG, which is great if you are allergic. You can also rest easy knowing strict regulations about what went into the product were followed. However, organic vape juices may also taste slightly duller, since PG acts as the carrier of an e-juice’s flavour.

So, whilst you may not notice a huge taste difference, organic e-liquids may appeal to those of you who are conscious about what goes into your body. Vapers with an eco-friendly agenda can also take comfort in the knowledge that the manufacturing process for organic e-liquids is less damaging to the environment.

How Do I Determine if an Organic Vape Juice Is Real?

Nowadays, companies use the word “organic” very liberally. It can be tricky to figure out the gimmicks from companies that have gone through rigorous assessments to achieve true organic status for their vape juices. To avoid falling victim to companies that slap an organic label on their products, it helps to have a bit of knowledge about organic certifications.

When looking for clarity in organic labelling, check for certification from an association, whether that be the USDA or one of the certifying bodies in the UK or EU. Certified organic products will have a logo displayed somewhere on the bottle to endorse their organic status. By comparing this logo to information from a certifying body, it becomes easier to tell certified products apart, since companies cannot legally use certified marks without passing strict reviews.

Because organic vape juices are relatively new to the market, very few companies have gone through the rigorous and lengthy certification process. Therefore, you need to use your initiative when it comes to checking out whether a company is truthful about their organic status. Some companies do have 90 to 99 percent organic e-liquids. However, they cannot receive certification without being 100 percent organic.

To aid your search for organic vape juices, use the vaping community to find trusted companies and to determine if the products they sell are 99 percent or 100 percent organic. By relying on the vaping community, you will find knowledgeable individuals who are ready to help you decide where to put your money and how to steer clear of false advertising.

Summing Up

Given how difficult it can be to find truly organic vape juice, choosing to switch entirely to organic is not for just anyone. If you can’t settle for synthetic or partially organic alternatives, then prepare to spend a lot of time looking for a trusted source and expect to pay a premium.

When you do find a potentially organic product, remember to check the labels. Read the ingredients list and make sure the product you receive does not contain PG. Compare certification labels with publicly available information and consult other members of the vaping community for insight about a particular product. Due diligence can help you avoid paying extra for a product that might not comply with government regulations for organic products.

Having said that, if you care about knowing exactly what goes into your body and about eco-friendly manufacturing, then it may be worth investing time and money into finding an organic e-liquid to suit you.
