US ‘90s goth act Sunshine Blind have announced their first live show in six years, at The Red Party in NYC’s Mercury Lounge, on 14 December 2024. It will be the band’s first live show together since Convergence XXIV in Detroit, in 2018; and their first return to play New York City since playing the Limelight club in 2001. Tickets are available now.

Frontwoman Caroline Blind says: “Twenty-three years is a long time in the music industry, and no doubt there will be people who haven’t heard of us at all, as well as people we have not seen in over twenty years, so I expect parts of the evening will have a somewhat emotional homecoming feel to it. Looking forward to all of it.”

Guitarist and cofounder CWHK (Charlie Kocornik) adds: “Of course, I’m looking forward to playing, but playing NYC after all these years will be like coming home. Be good to see familiar as well as new faces. Not to mention dusting off and cranking my amp! Something to be said for volume… Of course, a few rounds at McSorley’s Old Ale House in NYC is high on my list of old haunts.”

The band’s appearance at The Red Party NYC also marks the first live Sunshine Blind show since founding members Caroline and CWHK announced last year that they are working on new material together. Sunshine Blind were originally active from 1991-2003, releasing three studio albums and touring extensively, until disbanding when the former husband-and-wife duo parted ways. The live band has occasionally reunited for special one-off shows between 2010 and 2018, joined by longtime drummer Geoff Bruce (Faith and the Muse, Christ vs. Warhol) and later addition William Faith on bass (Faith and the Muse, The Bellwether Syndicate, et al), until Caroline Blind embarked on a solo career.

Caroline: “I’ve been keeping the music going for years on my own, and lately I was asked if I could play a show, but I’ve had difficulty putting a live band together since I moved to New Jersey four years ago. CWHK and I have been working on new songs lately, so I asked him and the rest of the last gigging Sunshine Blind lineup if they were available for this one show. It was just fortunate that we all were. We all have a long history playing together in different forms. Geoff (Bruce) was the drummer for Sunshine Blind for many years of touring before he joined Faith and the Muse and played with them for years, as well. We met William (Faith) back in the early ‘90s, and Sunshine Blind and Faith and the Muse toured together on the Apparition Tour in 1996. It will be great to spend time with them all, rehearsing and playing the show. I’m sure we’ll catch up on all the jokes and memories.”

Along with regular DJs Sean Templar and Jarek, Sunshine Blind will be joined at The Red Party by DJ Scary Lady Sarah.
