Portland’s psychedelic gaze-wave band Sun Atoms has unveiled their new 7-inch single “Take This Love” including the B-side “And The Lion Saw The UFO”. The single (out via Little Cloud Records) includes a sci-fi video shot at Oregon’s Airplane Home, created by Bradley Tuazon.

“Take This Love” was mixed by Jagz Kooner (Massive Attack, Primal Scream) and mastered by Keith Tenniswood (Spiritualized, Death In Vegas). The B-side, “And The Lion Saw The UFO”, was recorded with Gregg Williams (Sheryl Crow).

The single follows their earlier release, “Ceiling Tiles” / “Tower of Song (in the key of JAMC)”, and comes ahead of their sophomore album, set for autumn release.

The band members of Sun Atoms are Peter G. Holmström on bass and guitar, Jsun Atoms handling vocals and guitar, June Kang as a multi-instrumentalist, Mars de Ponte on guitar and keys, Eric Rubalcava on drums, and Derek Spencer Longoria-Gomez on guitar and vocals.

They debuted in 2021 with the album “Let There Be Light”, produced by Peter G. Holmström and mixed by iconic producer Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths, The Cranberries), involving contributions by The Black Angels’ Alex Maas, The Vandelles’ Jasno Swarez and Gregg Williams (Sheryl Crow, Blitzen Trapper).

Since you’re here

we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
