A few weeks ago we presented you a brand new video from the Chicago-based post-punk trio Staring Problem, “The Void”. Today we can exclusively present you a brand new track from Staring Problem, “Don’t Tell a Soul”.

This new track is taken from the forthcoming “Equinox” album out via Modern Tapes on December 20, 2024. The album is available now for pre-order in various formats. “Equinox” is the follow-up to 2020’s debut LP “Eclipse”. The new LP will have seven new songs. For this album vocalist/guitarist Lauren Owen is joined by the new rhythm section of Michael Erickson and Andrew Jarosh.

Below is the previous video single “The Void”.

About Staring Problem

Active for over 15 years, Staring Problem blends ethereal pop with goth influences. The current lineup features Lauren Owen, Michael Erickson, and Andrew Jarosh. Musically you ca expect a sound that is close to The Cranes, Cocteau Twins or even Collection d’Arnell Andréa.

Their new album “Equinox” comprises predominantly new material collaboratively written by the trio, with lyrics addressing mental health, sociopolitical issues, environmental concerns, and technology. The album was recorded in 2023 by Matt Russell at Altered States Studio in Chicago.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
