Samael launches live version of ‘Moonskin’ – Watch it now
(Photo by Cyril Perregaux) The Swiss industrial black metal act Samael have released the gothic and piano driven single “Moonskin” via Napalm Records. The single is taken from the band’s upcoming live album, “Passage – Live”, out on February 16. You can view the lyric video below.
Vorph explains: “We were repeatedly asked to release this song as a standalone single around the time of the album’s release. So, a quarter of a century later, we decided to put it in the spotlight with the release of Passage – Live.”
About the live album
The live record was recorded during a sold-out concert in Krakow on the last day of the European leg of the “Passage 25th Anniversary Tour. Vorph comments: “The blend of metal, industrial and electronica that has been our trademark for almost three decades began with Passage. It’s almost ground zero for us, and we’re delighted to offer these songs a fresh approach and bring this album to life for our long-standing audience as well as those who have discovered the band recently.”
“Passage” is the fourth album by Swiss industrial metal band Samael, released on 19 August 1996 through Century Media. “Passage – Live” will be available in the following formats:
- 1LP gatefold marbled red/white & 20 page booklet (Napalm mail order only, limited to 300)
- 1LP gatefold black & 20 page booklet
- 6 page digipack & 56 page booklet in a slipcase

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
