Genre/Influences: Dream-Pop, Shoegaze.

Format: Digital, CD, Vinyl, Cassette.

Background/Info: “Days Of Distortion” is the official debut album by Parisian (France) formation Pam Ristourié. The album comes as a collaboration between labels Icy Cold Records, Shore Dive Records, Stellar Frequencies, Hidden Bay, Araki and Pyrrhic Victory Recordings.

Content: From the very seconds you immediately notice the Dream-Pop inspiration of the band. The songs remain dreamy and sweet sometimes with an elevating passage. You’ll also discover a harder and darker song but the main part of the travel remains wafting ending into a catchy track with a great guitar apotheosis.

+ + + : Dream-Pop music is the truest sense of the meaning featuring a great debut- and last song. The guitar playing creates a lifting sensation this way brings the album to an absolute, sensational, last part. I also have to say a word about the sensual, androgenic, vocals which are perfectly matching with the music creating a true osmosis.

– – – : Great and promising songs are alternating with a few, poorly, inspired cuts but let’s keep the best part in mind.

Conclusion: “Days Of Distortion” stands for a promising and I should say elegant debut album.

Best songs: “You Are The Sound”, “Disappear For Me”, “A Star Among The Candles”.

Rate: 7½.

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
