Lords Of Acid have announced that former Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey is the band’s new singer. Lords Of Acid’s manager Marc Jordan confirms that Carla is set to begin recording vocals for the new Lords Of Acid album this winter and will be joining the band on a 27 date US tour in June.

Harvey says this about her joining the band: “I had three favorite bands in high school: Guns N’ Roses, Pantera and Lords of Acid. Each one shaped me and uniquely influenced me as an artist. LOA had me hooked from the moment I heard “I Sit On Acid” as a teenager dancing the night away at Detroit’s goth Industrial Haven City Club. My obsession with LOA only grew after I saw Coop’s artwork on the cover of “Voodoo U”. Now I get to record an album and go on tour with my industrial heroes! Pinch 16 year old me! While my new band The Violent Hour is set to release its first single in February, I’m adding a bucket list item to my resume: Reigning “Acid Queen”.”

About Carla Harvey

Carla Harvey, born on October 4, 1976, in Detroit, Michigan, is an American musician, author, and actress, known as the former co-vocalist of the metal band Butcher Babies.

Before her music career, Harvey worked as an entertainment reporter for the Playboy Channel and appeared on television shows like “Rules of Engagement”. She then pursued a degree in Mortuary Science from California’s Cypress College, becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Her passion for writing led her to create the comic book “Butcher Babies”, released at San Diego Comic-Con in 2011, and author the novel “Death and Other Dances” in 2014.

In 2010, Harvey co-founded Butcher Babies, releasing several albums, including “Goliath” (2013) and “Lilith” (2017). She departed from the band in July 2024 and subsequently formed a new project, The Violent Hour.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
