Haujobb – The Machine In The Ghost (Digital/CD Album – Dependent Records)
“The Machine In The Ghost” marks Haujobb’s first new album in six years and their tenth studio full length. Daniel Myer and Dejan Samardzic have clearly made an effort to reinvigorate their signature sound with fresh ideas, drawing inspiration from past eras of immense creativity. The result leans more heavily into Industrial territory, characterized by metal-like sounds that lend the album an Experimental and at times Cinematic feel. Despite these new elements, the familiar icy, minimalist Haujobb atmosphere remains intact, driven by slow rhythms and Daniel Myer’s distinct vocal style. At times, the album feels like a carefully constructed experiment, blending analog and digital sounds with Electro-Acoustic textures. While “The Machine In The Ghost” may not be Haujobb’s most accessible or strongest work, it stands as a visionary effort that pushes boundaries in their unmistakable style. (Rating:8).

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
