Frontline Assembly – Eye On You (Digital EP – Metropolis Records)
Genre/Influences: EBM.
Background/Info: While the Canadian EBM veterans have announced their upcoming album “Wake Up The Coma” for early 2019 they here and now strike back with this particular EP/single. “Eye On You”’ is featuring Robert Görl (DAF).
Content: The title song reveals the usual FLA-complexity. It also sounds a bit bombastic, but remains very EBM-minded with Bill Leeb’s vocals on top.
Remixes have been made by Orphx and Terence Fixmer.
+ + + : FLA meeting Robert Görl is something unique and “Eye On You” also is a cool new song (that will be featured on the upcoming album). When EBM masters are working together you can only, but expect a great song. But I also have to say that the best surprise maybe comes from Orphx. They remixed the song into their own style resulting in an intelligent and still sophisticated piece of music, which is mainly instrumental (except during the last part of the song). This is pure industrial-dance music, which will ravish the DJ’s.
– – – : This song is not exactly my favorite FLA-composition, but if you’re familiar with their impressive discography you for sure will get my point. I also expected a bit more from the Terence Fixmer-remix, which is pretty unusual for the Frenchman.
Conclusion: This single is first of all a great collaboration between EBM legends so in the end there’s no better way to announce the new full length.
Best songs: “Eye On You – Orphx Remix”, “Eye On You – Album Mix”.
