Clock DVA sees rare ‘memory stick’ tracks out on vinyl: ‘Re-Konstructed’
Clock DVA to release EP 'Re-Konstructed (Atom & Scanner remixes)'
Out via Frigio Records on May 24 is the Clock DVA vinyl “Re-Konstructed”, which comes in a limited and numbered edition of strictly 350 copies on heavy 180g vinyl. We already reported about it, but this is a release that will be very rare, so get your hands on it as soon as you can.
The vinyl comes as a single-sided (music) vinyl, while the B-side contains an etching. It contains two remixes of tracks, originally released on a limited memory stick under the name ‘Clock 2’ in 2014.
The remixes were executed by Atom™ (aka Uwe Schmidt aka Atomheart aka Lassigue Bendthaus) and Scanner aka Robin Rimbaud.
About Clock DVA
Clock DVA was formed in 1978 by Adi Newton (born Gary Coates) and Steven “Judd” Turner. Nowadays the band consists of Adi Newton and Maurizio Martinucci. The early years of Clock DVA (1978–1981) were marked by the release of “White Souls in Black Suits” and “Thirst”, projects that saw the band dabbling in experimental electronic music. Utilizing treated tape loops and synthesizers, their sound was a novel contribution to the industrial music landscape.
The tragic death of Turner in 1981 due to an accidental drug overdose led to a brief dissolution of the band, highlighting a tumultuous period in their journey. The era between 1982 and 1984 saw Newton reforming Clock DVA with new members, including John Valentine Carruthers. During this period the band created a fusion of intense dance rhythms with experimental sounds.
However, internal conflicts led to another split, with Newton subsequently founding The Anti-Group to continue his experimental endeavors.
Resurgence came in 1987 as Newton reformed Clock DVA, leading to the release of “Buried Dreams” and “Man-Amplified”, albums that delved deeper into cybernetic themes and sampling techniques. Despite facing challenges with record labels and a hiatus that lasted until the late 2000s, Newton’s disruptive vision for Clock DVA actually never changed.
The reactivation of Clock DVA in 2008 alongside creative partner Jane Radion Newton marked a new chapter for the band with a lineup that included Maurizio “TeZ” Martinucci and Shara Vasilenko.
