Genre/Influences: Dream-Pop, Chanson.

Format: Digital.

Background/Info: Third full length album by the Danish duo  Heidi Lindahl ( vocals) – Nils Lassen (composition).

Content: The work moves on there where previous album “Goodbye In July” (2020) stopped. Warm and heavenly female vocals on one side and delicate, music writing on the other side. The songs have been composed by electronics, guitar, harmonica, mandolin, drums resulting in a beautiful sonic voyage with a melancholic touch on top.

+ + + : I like the album’s delicacy and dreamy sensation which is accentuated by the graceful, heavenly, female vocals. “Boy Of A 1000 Tears” is a beautiful song while I also recommend the more melancholic “Love Me Like You’ve Never Been Hurt” featuring great lyrics.

– – – : A little bit more diversity would be a true bonus;  the songs remaining a bit too similar.

Conclusion: BlackieBlueBird is an atypical Dream-Pop formation which clearly has something special. This album is for sure their best exposure to date.

Best songs: “Boy Of A 1000 Tears”, “Love Me Like You’ve Never Been Hurt”, “The Love We Once Knew”, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You”.

Rate: 8.

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
