Berlin-based darkgaze band Vlimmer back with third album, ‘Zerschöpfung’
Out now is the 3rd Vlimmer album, “Zerschöpfung”, the title is a blend of the German words for “exhaustion” and “destruction”.
On “Zerschöpfung” the listeners follow the Berlin-based darkgaze band on a journey through the depths of exhaustion, destruction, and identity crisis; an emotionally charged exploration of the human psyche. Musically you will hear that Vlimmer weaves together darkwave, post-punk, shoegaze and new wave spiced with tribal drums.
A lot has happened since Alexander Leonard Donat started the shoegaze/darkwave project Vlimmer. After completing an 18-EP series (2015-2020) the music went into a post-punk direction which led to the debut album, “Nebenkörper” (2021) waving goodbye to the 80s inspired synths and adding industrial and noise rock to the bill. A year later, the Berlin producer released the follow-up album, “Menschenleere” (2022), including a more catchy and dancefloor-related style.
Here’s the album which is also out on CD (incl. also a limited magnetic CD box) and as a limited edition cassette.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
