Yazoo hit ‘Nobody’s Diary’ gets Sgt Slick rework – Out now
Out now via Electric Mode | Whitelabel, Sgt Slick delivers a rework of Yazoo‘s hit “Nobody’s Diary” as a promo-only edition, not intended for official release. Following his current release “Everybody Dance” on Fool’s Paradise, Sgt Slick’s ReCut infuses the Yazoo classic with a disco-driven twist.
The promo holds two reworks, the Sgt Slick ReCut one and the Sgt Slick Dub version.
Originally released in May 1983 as the lead single from Yazoo’s second album, “You and Me Both”, “Nobody’s Diary” showcases lyrics written by Alison Moyet at age 16. The song explores themes of longing and emotional reflection. Upon its release, “Nobody’s Diary” climbed to number three on the UK Singles Chart and topped the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart in July 1983.
Here’s the original music video, directed by Chris Gabrin, features the band performing amidst a minimalist, atmospheric setting.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
