The electro-prog duo We Are Bodies (Dave Pen & Robin Foster) are back with a new full length, “The Love Was All We Had”. The album is out on vinyl, CD and digitally via Wearebodiesmusic.

Dave Pen is a south coast-based vocalist and guitarist and half of the alternative/electronic group BirdPen and co-frontman with the experimental trip-rock collective Archive. Based in north-west France since the late 1990s, Robin Foster is a composer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist.

The music blends atmospheric soundscapes with lyrical themes that explore love from multiple angles, including its darker aspects, where relationships can lead to pain, hatred, and emotional turmoil. The singles “Dancing In The Midnight Howl” (portraying lovers pulled apart) and “Lost” (an upbeat track about a turbulent relationship) exemplify this thematic and musical approach.

The duo began collaborating in 2011 and released an eponymous debut as “We Are Bodies” in 2015. Its follow-up was as a pandemic project with ideas emailed back and forth across the Channel themed around what was occurring in the world at that time. Its focus then switched to the present, with the lust for power and war taking centre stage.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
