Out now is the all new industrial rock single and video by Ivan King: “Oblivion”. Both the song and video are inspired by the cult classic silent horror movie “Das Cabinet Des Dr Caligari” (The Cabinet of Dr Caligari), one of Ivan King’s favorite movies ever.

Ivan King adds this as a comment regarding the lyrics: “The lyrics for “Oblivion” are based on the movie “lore” and they’re written as a dialogue between Dr Caligari and Cesare but they’re also a metaphor about a manipulative and toxic relationship.”

The video for “Oblivion” was directed by Ivan King himself.

About Ivan King

Ivan King is an Italian musician, film director, and mask maker, born on December 23, 1989. He ventured into the arts at a young age, initially aiming to become a comic-book artist before dedicating himself to cinema. By the age of 15, he was already making short films, and in 2010, he founded the filmmaking team king UNIT. His early work includes the award-winning short films “Like God” and “The House of the Rising Sun”.

He started releasing music as a solo artist in 2012, with singles like “Bloodshot” and “Divine”. His cover of “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” in 2017, originally the main theme for the video game Resident Evil 7, was well-received after which Ivan joined the industrial metal band The Silverblack as a bass player and video director in September 2014.

Ivan King released the single “Without Fear” on December 15th, 2019 followed by the EP “The Ballad of the Dead Man“ in late January 2020. The industrial EP is produced and mastered by NeroArgento and the song “Without Fear” was choosen by the Californian industrial act DK-Zero for a remix.

Ivan King also released new music in 2023 with the single “Extinction,” accompanied by a sci-fi horror-themed music video. He followed this up with another single “Stalker” in March 2024.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
