Alexander Dust – German Angst I-IV (Album – Painful Scream Records)
Genre/Influences: Dark-Rock.
Format: Digital, CD.
Background/Info: Eighth album by German multi-instrumentalist and singer Alexander Dust. This album is filled with ‘absurdity, sarcasm, bitterness, irony and occasional humour’ while for the very fist time the songs are featuring German vocals.
Content: The work remains faithful to the dark-Rock driven approach of the artist. Alexander Dust plays different instruments but injects a real spirit into his work by the guitar play. He also explores sonic paths featuring Ballads and even a kind of Cinematic-Rock.
+ + + : This artist remains atypical for the music he creates. It’s hard to define the sound although it’s related to a darker side of Rock music with some extra influences along. Alexander’s timbre of voice has a charismatic, and theatral expression. The opening cut is worthy of examination for its Eastern like sphere.
– – – : It’s hard to label the artist and his sound. The album is just missing a true climax.
Conclusion: Alexander Dust remains an enigma to me although his work is easy to listen to.
Best songs: “The Reality”, “The Shame”.
Rate: 6½.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
