Background/Info: Hailing from Washington D.C (USA) 51 Peg released their first production in 2000. They don’t exactly release new stuff on a regular basis and now strike back with this new opus featuring seven songs.
Content: It’s not that easy defining the sound of the band but it clearly covers different influences. I’m not surprised they claim to be inspired by bands like Depeche Mode and NIN. The music is mixing aggressive electronic sequences and Industrial guitar playing while you’ll notice melody lines now and then. The last song is a surprising cover of Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without A Face”.
+ + + : The main strength of the work is the complementary production between guitar and electronics. I’m more into the aggressive parts of the work like featured at “Roots Into Sand”. Billy Idol’s cover sounds fun and well sung.
– – – : Music which is hard to label and without a true climax.
Conclusion: I was not really impressed by this record.
Best songs: “Roots Into Sand”.
