Genre/Influences: Industrial-Metal.

Format: Digital, CD.

Background/Info: I already got the opportunity to discover earlier work from Von Mollestein. This band is hailing from The Netherlands and defines their music as the mix between Aggrotech and Black-Metal.

Content: “The Order Of The Fist” features 10 songs. The work takes off in a violent way, kind of full speed Hardcore Metal music with harsh, shouting, vocals on top. Quite progressively the work also reveals a ‘softer’ side mixing guitar riffs together with more explicit electronic treatments.

+ + + : It’s hard to label this band and it even has been never that difficult as for this new opus. And that’s precisely what makes the originality of this band; kind of ‘no rules  – no compromises’ attitude. If you’re into violent music you better try Von Mollestein which is getting harder and harder. I’m more addicted to the ‘softer’ side of the work revealing a better balance between guitar and electronics. This band clearly has a potential to find an audience and doesn’t spare any effort to catch their attention.

– – – : This band is clearly not into melodies and other clichés but it would make their music more accessible… at least for non-Metal addicts.

Conclusion: Sonic terrorism made in The Netherlands.

Best songs: “Jacky Boy”, “Midnight Meateater”.

Rate: 7.

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
