Genre/Influences: Electro-pop.

Content: Together with the “Re-Design”-EP Metroland also released this ‘extra’ production entitled the “Spacious Edition”.
We get exactly the same songs, but this time remixed by 3 other artists. The EP this way sounds more diversified in influences, but I can already tell you it’s fully complementary with the “Re-Design”-edition.

Jauzas The Shining is not exactly a familiar name in the underground scene, this French producer being involved into techno-minded productions, but his remix of “Design” is absolutely remarkable for its little EBM flavor. It sounds rawer and more into minimalism compared to the original song.

We next get a remix of “Vers La Cote d’Azur” by Notstandskomitee. I don’t’ know if this band has been reactivated for the special purpose of making a remix, but it’s an interesting feature and cool remix as well.

Last, but not least we get another remix of “Design”, but this time by Jean-Marc Lederman (The Weathermen) transforming the original version into another minimalistic electro formula, which totally fits with the original work of Metroland.

Conclusion: Great music and cool remixes for “Re-Design”. This EP is not as much into minimalism, but is always featuring intelligent electronics.

Best songs: “Design – Jauzas The Shinign Remix”, “Design – Jean-Marc Lederman Remix”.

Rate: (DP:8)DP.

Inferno Sound Diaries
I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
