Onsturicheit – Live At The PostX (Album – Littl’Antenna Records / Wool-E Discs)

Background/Info: This album is the second live session that has been released as a record by Littl’Antenna and Belgian NeuMusik (Wool-E Discs). Peter Moorkens has released an endless number of productions over the past few years. He now accomplished this live work featuring a single track of nearly one hour.
Content: The album features one cut, but you clearly will recognize multiple passages. The work moves from pure Experimental parts towards Minimal-Electro. Sometimes pretty close to Cinematographic music and sometimes into a kind of Ritual atmosphere, Onsturicheit covers an impressive number of influences. Vocals have been reversed and used as a spooky effect, which is just an extra source of sound/noise. Quite progressively the performance touches ground with Dark-Ambient to finally reach a Minimal-electro final.
+ + + : This album will appeal for lovers of Electro-Minimalism, but especially to fans of improvisation. I can imagine the artist took off with a basis of ideas and noises, but I can’t imagine he knew where it would end. It explains the album’s diversity. I’m still fascinated by the magic of analogue effects and noises, but still for its minimalism. There are also cool guitar effects on top of the Electronic layers. The passage right in the midst of the performance is absolutely great and I especially like the Ritual touch created by the vocals’ effects.
– – – : Improvisation isn’t always the most accessible format to gain a wider audience. I however think that’s not exactly the main goal of this project.
Conclusion: Onsturicheit remains unpredictable, but fascinating; the perfect mix between Ambient and Experimental music.
