Genre/Influences: Experimental, Dark-Ambient, Apocalyptic-Rock.

Format: Digital, CD.

Background/Info: Polish artist Artur Rumiński has been involved with many projects such as Arrm, Furia, Gruzja, Thaw ao but is also releasing music under his own name. A few productions have been released thus far, but Artur Rumiński now joined hands together with Zoharum to unleash seven new compositions.

Content: The tracks don’t have real titles, but are simply numbered from 1 till 7. The listeners will embark on an apocalyptic trip, which has something ominous although some passages are also dreamy. The main atmosphere remains menacing. The artist is mainly using guitar and effects to create his sonic universe, which can’t leave you unmoved.

+ + + : Artur Rumiński has a very unique style and that’s an aspect I always appreciate. The approach is not that new, but this kind of Apocalyptic-Rock, which can be also defined as simply ‘ambient’, creates an overwhelming atmosphere. It comes mainly through on, “II” and the menacing “IIIII”. The dreamy contrast created by “III” is somewhat surprising although a cool relief.

– – – : The album only features 27 minutes of music, but is going through a few monotonous passages.

Conclusion: Artur Rumiński is not my favorite Zoharum artist, but brings extra diversity to the label.

Best songs: “IIIII”, “II”.

Rate: (6½).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
