Bad Tracking – Widower (EP – Bokeh Versions)

Background/Info: Bristol (UK) based project Bad Tracking already has a very few productions. Being considered as one of the UK’s ‘most taboo electronic music acts’ they last year released this vinyl-EP featuring five songs inspired by dystopian themes.
Content: This production is bringing elements of industrial music and noise together. There are instrumental songs featured, and also tracks with heavy vocals. The vocals are hard to understand and sound a bit like being used as an extra effect. There also is some minimalism running through some cuts, reminding me of 90s electro-industrial experiments.
+ + + : I especially enjoyed the minimal-driven tracks for their unpolished 90s approach. The title song and “Banned From Motion” both are cool cuts illustrating this minimalism. Some passages clearly sound like pure improvisation although they’ve something coherent.
– – – : “Widower” however remains an extreme listening, where you sometimes get lost into a sonic labyrinth of power-electronics.
Conclusion: No doubt about it, “Bad Tracking” will only catch the attention of a restricted number of fans. This kind of ‘music’ remains an extreme experience!
