Creation VI – Beringia (CD Album – Cryo Chamber)

Background/Info: Ukrainian artist Tim Six is back on track unleashing a new opus –the second one released by Cryo Chamber. This prolific artist has collaborated with multiple labels, but Cryo chamber seems to become a comfortable home to release his works.
Content: “Beringia” takes off with 2 overwhelming pieces mixing dark-ambient, cinematic and ritual influences. The tracks are evolving progressively till reaching an absolute climax –and especially at “Land Of Famished Spirits”. The 3 cuts left are still pretty dark-ambient driven, but still more into experimental passages. The field recordings are pretty present here.
+ + + : The debut part of this work is absolute phenomenal. Both debut songs reveal great writing skills and the artist’s nose to bring different influences together. I like the way both cuts have been progressively built up, creating an apotheosis in darkness and angst. Creation VI has this particular genius to build up an overwhelming atmosphere taking the listener in its grip. The work is elaborated and revealing multiple little noises and details.
– – – : After the extraordinary debut the 3 tracks left are interesting, but never reaching a similar qualitative level.
Conclusion: I’m always a bit reticent with prolific artists, but I’ve to admit Creation VI never stops to bring new and fascinating works. This is a remarkable dark travel throughout the world of ambient music.
