Renoffski – Renoffski (Cassette EP – Low Noise Productions)
Genre/Influences: Power-electronics.
Background/Info: Belgian Damien De Coene is mainly known for his hard power-noise project Charles Razeur although his first project remains Renoffski. This artist released an impressive number of productions in a rather short lapse of time and is now back on track with this self-titled EP featuring two cuts.
Content: This work features two cuts, which each hold you in their grip for 10 minutes. Both cuts are driven by repetitive power-electronic loops without any real variation.
+ + + : You have to like repetitive music and the harder electronic style of power-electronics to enjoy this work. It’s a kind of ‘anti-music’ format, which sounds to me as the contemporary approach of artists active during the 80s.
– – – : The global approach and production sounds a bit too easy and monotonous because of the repetitive formula.
Conclusion: This work is a kind of monotonous, repetitive sonic torture, which will hold you in its grip 20 minutes long.
Best songs: “Trankb”.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
