Genre/Influences: EBM.

Background/Info: Darkness On Demand strikes back with a second extract from their second album “Detoxination”. After the terrific EP featuring the title song of their album they now chose for another great piece while adding a few remixes from other familiar cuts and two new songs.

Content: “Brain Fucked” has been remixed by Leather Strip and Vdoc. We also get a remix of “Never Look Back” by Winterhart and a “Maxi”-edit of “God Needs No Religion”. Both new songs are in the EBM-sound of Darkness On Demand.

+ + + : First there’s a real great remix of the title song by Leather Strip. Claus Larsen has already accomplished great remixes, but this is one I’ll really keep in mind even if I have to say the original edit is of course very inspiring. Another noticeable song is the maxi-version of “God Needs No Religion”. The production of the vocals is really cool. The Winterhart remix (side project of Darkness On Demand) brings a somewhat heavenly-like touch to the work. It’s also cool to discover new songs; I’ve a preference for “Brain Drain”.

– – – : Cool to discover new cuts, but they aren’t exactly the most convincing songs from the band so far.

Conclusion: “Detoxination” remains a great production and I won’t be surprised if there’s another EP taken from it.

Best songs: “Brain Fucked – Leather Strip Remix”, “God Needs No Religion – Maxi”, “Brain Fucked – Vdoc Remix”.

Rate: (7½).

Inferno Sound Diaries
I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
