We Are Polarized – Inkub (CD EP – We Are Polarized)
Genre/Influences: Gothic, neo-classic.
Background/Info: We Are Polarized is a Polish trio, which has already goat featured on a compilation of the magazine Sonic Seducer (2018). They describe their sound as the ‘clash of two worlds, the magnetism of opposites’.
Content: Listening to “Inkub” you perfectly understand what the band wants to say about ‘the clash of two worlds’. The five songs are mixing different elements together, which can be understood as the meeting between gothic and neo-classic. The piano has an important role in the song writing while singer Claire X has a real deep timbre of voice.
+ + + : “Inkub” is the clash between bombast and refinement. I have a preference for the ‘refinement’, which is mainly created by the piano and arrangements. Together with the vocals you sometimes might have the sensation of a theatre performance. The band didn’t clearly avoid any effort to obtain an artistic work, which is also noticeable in the great artistic artwork of the digipak.
– – – : Despite of the band’s efforts and some enthusiasm reactions they already got, I don’t really find potential hits or high lights among the tracklist.
Conclusion: One thing is for sure, We Are Polarized tries to do something special or at least different from other bands. They now have to improve a few details to become really successful!
Best songs: “Run Down The Bloody River”, “The First Dead Blink”.
