Horthodox – The Great Sacral Machine (CD Album – Noctivagant)
Genre/Influences: Industrial, experimental.
Background/Info: Horthodox is a project hailing from Israel, which released two productions in 2018. They now joined hands together with Noctivagant Records to unleash this new opus featuring four songs.
Content: The compositions have been progressively built up. Three from the four tracks are going over ten minutes while the opening track –which is shorter, sounds more as an intro. Horthodox is mixing several influences together, which are mainly centered on industrial sound treatments, experimental sonic collages while sometimes driven by slow rhythms and featuring rare spoken samplings. Notice by the way the tracks have been simply numbered from 1 to 4 and don’t have real titles.
+ + + : I like the global progression of the tracks, which especially at the second and fourth track are excelling till a truly sonic apotheosis. The haunting atmospheres recovering the composition create a scary sensation. I also like the minimal approach of the work and I here mainly refer to the last cut. Last, but not least, I also have to say a word about the cool artwork of this album.
– – – : The third track is a little less too experimental to my taste.
Conclusion: This album is an interesting experience made with noticeable sound treatments and poignant atmospheres. This is definitely a band to look out for!
