Genre/Influences: Dance-pop, electro-pop.

Background/Info: Digitalis has been set up in the 80s and can be seen as one of the electronic pioneers from the southern part of England. For this EP they invited a female guest singer (cf. Marlene) to sing on both featured songs.

Content: The title track sounds as soft dance-pop music featuring male vocals and female backings. You’ll also discover an “Extended Mix” and “Club Mix”. The B-side track is more electro-pop orientated and again featuring male- and female vocals. Next to the original edit there also is an “Instrumental Mix”.

+ + + : One thing is for sure, Digitalis are melody-makers and still have this feeling to compose perfect dance-music. I however prefer the B-side song “Could It Be That All Is Chaos”. The chorus with the female vocals is absolute remarkable and a passage you easily keep in mind.

– – – : The title track is okay, but a bit cliché. It also sounds a bit like dance music for teenagers.

Conclusion: This EP reveals 2 songs and 2 sides of Digitalis; commercial and dance at one side versus efficient electro-pop at the other side.

Best songs: “Could It Be That All Is Chaos”.

Rate: (7).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
