Helalyn Flowers – Kamikaze Angel (Digital EP – Alfa Matrix)
Genre/Influences: Metal-pop, hard-pop.
Background/Info: Italian duo Helalyn Flowers are back on track preparing their fifth album entitled “Nyctophilia”. While Noemi sung and collaborated with multiple other artists mastermind Maxx launched his solo-project ImJudas. “Kamikaze Angel” is a look on the next opus of the band.
Content: The title song is pure power and seeing Helalyn Flowers moving further exploring pop fields merged with their powerful metal/industrial sound. Guitar and electronics became one and are carried by the charisma of Noemi’s vocals. The other new cut entitled “Beyond” is more polished and much more than simply a B-side track.
We next get remixes by Adam Kult, Six Faces and label mates Junksista and Psy’Aviah.
+ + + : “Kamikaze Angel” is a great new song, which reveals the never-ending progress of Helalyn Flowers to experiment with new ideas. Well, it’s even more than that as their simply go further experimenting with pop and especially how to mix it with their very own industrial/metal style. The great vocal parts get this song fully accomplished. I also have to mention the cool B-side track. Among the remixes I want to give a special mention for the contribution of Adam Kult and the less familiar Six Faces.
– – – : I have never been a huge fan of remixes and even if all bands did a proper and honest job, none of the remixes really add a bonus to this EP.
Conclusion: Helalyn Flowers confirms their status of leading formation from the Belgian Alfa Matrix stable and this EP is a solid teaser to the announced full length planed to be released later on this year.

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
