Genre/Influences: Electro-pop.

Background/Info: Stockholm based duo Eva Kaxe – Kristian Oscarsson are back on track unleashing a new single. The Swedish formation deals with electro-pop, which finds its influences in the 80s. Kaos! already revealed a real interesting potential and I’m really waiting for the day they’ll definitely break through.

Content: “Never Ever Me” moves on with the retro-inspired electro-pop music. The title song is totally representative for the 80s spirit although with some modernism on top.

You also will find a more danceable remix of the title song plus a remix of “Zurück” (the original version was released on the EP ”Moments Of Perfection”).

+ + + : Kaos! confirms to have all ingredients to compose great electro-pop music. The music is made of great, deep sounding bass lines, an efficient vintage pop approach, a great chorus and a talented female vocalist. The new title song is worthy of examination, but both remixes are pretty cool as well. This is the kind of music that will appeal to fans of Yazoo, Erasure and co.

– – – : I just regret this is only a single and I’m really looking forward to hear a new full length by Kaos! This band now definitely deserves a bit more recognition!

Conclusion: If you’re in search of upcoming electro-pop talents, you better try Kaos!

Best songs: “Never Ever Me”, “Never Ever Me – SoundBlitz Extended Rmx”.

Rate: (7½).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
